About the hut

The Pilgrims Hut is currently closed until Spring 2024

Our cosy and luxurious Pilgrims Hut is suitable for singles & couples that appreciate the finer things in life. The accommodation comprises an en-suite power shower-room, compact kitchen with dual ring ceramic hob, dining area and double bed.

The Pilgrims Hut and surrounding lower garden is a perfect romantic retreat reserved for our guests. There are elevated views across the north downs, fields with horses and sheep munching the clover rich grass.

The main garden, with high hedgerows and mature pond is the equivalent of a woodland glade and is a haven for bird life. Crows, Jays, Green and Greater Spotted Woodpeckers and Herons are all regular visitors, and buzzards can be seen circling high above. Bullfinch and Nuthatch are more exotic visitors and during summer nights there are hunting bats and owls sometimes hoot you to sleep. You are welcome to wander these garden areas that are available for everyone.

Most of the year we have resident pheasants in the garden and mallard ducks return to the pond in spring and sometimes we are blessed with a troupe of ducklings.

Reviews

Here are some comments received from previous happy guests.

Gorgeous shepherds hut with lovely view over green Kentish pastures. The wood burning stove gives off great heat to keep you cosy. The shower is strong and warm. The kitchen is well stocked and everything works perfectly. The bed is just right for a great nights sleep. What a brilliant place to spend the evening and enjoy all of nature’s beauty! Will definitely return :)

Honestly, it could not have been better. This place is probably the cosiest place I have ever been! Great location for someone looking to escape from busy cities and enjoy the nature. Pete and Lesley are model hosts and very attentive to their guests always offering help and tips about the surroundings. I only regret one thing, stay just one night ... I hope to come back soon.

Lovely stay for one night. We enjoyed an evening BBQ, found the hut very comfortable & loved looking out over the countryside. Very relaxing after a busy week!

The property is furnished and equipped to a very high and very comfortable specification. Pete is a welcoming but unobtrusive host.

Pete and Lesley's shepherds hut is a lovely getaway from the noises of the city and peacefully located in the back of their garden. It is quite secluded with lots of privacy and has all the amenities one could wish for in such a compact space. It was easy to prepare a few meals and the breakfast starter pack they provided was just lovely and very tasty. Fresh produce: eggs, cheese and berries as I had asked for a meat-free option. They even reserve a parking slot for you! All in all highly recommended!

Hosts very welcoming, very spacious had every thing you could need. Great views, gorgeous cat and lovely nearby pub. We had a lovely time & the fresh eggs was a added bonus. Thanks

What a lovely place, Lesley and Pete were very welcoming and the shepards Hut was amazing. We had such a lovely time thank you very much.

Lovely and remarkably spacious shepherds hut, set in a pretty garden, completely secluded from the hosts' house. We brought our two month old baby and there was plenty of room for his travel cot without getting in the way. Breakfast is also a great touch. We had a great bbq overlooking fields of sheep and horses. Pete and Lesley were friendly and check in / out was easy. Lots of nice villages / pubs around to explore. Only slight downside is that given its location there is a pretty constant hum of road noise, but this is the compromise for being so close to London.
